Value Proposition Canvas · Founder, boutique consulting practice
Her offer was good. It just wasn’t solving the problem her customers actually had.
Mapping both sides side by side showed exactly where the fit broke down.
Products/Services claims that didn’t map to a real customer job

She knew her service was well built - clients said so. But close rates were flat. The Value Proposition Canvas forced two lists onto the same page: what she was actually selling, and what her customer was actually hiring someone to do for them. Laid out side by side, the mismatch was obvious in a way it never was in her head: she was selling expertise, they were buying certainty.
Osterwalder’s framework (not a guess dressed up as one) splits the canvas into what you offer and what the customer’s real job, pain and gain actually are - then makes you check them against each other line by line instead of trusting a gut feeling that they line up. Most of the time they mostly do. The value is in finding the part that doesn’t, before you spend another marketing dollar promoting the wrong half of your own offer.
